How many times throughout our years of attending US history classes do we get to the American Revolution range of the class and the instructor will cover the military berth of the war, but he or she would slightly touch on the political side as to what drove the colonists into war with swell Britain? In The Birth of the Republic 1763-89 by Edmund S. Morgan, the author takes a look into the political side and ideas of what caused the colonists of Colonial America to assert their independence from Great Britain. Morgan described the war as universe fought over different ideas: taxation without patch upation, holding, all men ar created equal, nationalism, and the dangers of tyranny. Towards the last few chapters of the book, Morgan also talked about the creation of the imperfect Articles of Confederation during the war and the creation of the United States Constitution later members of the Constitutional Congress found the Articles to be too rachitic for the independent states to follow.
