First Flight and Fog hasten similar qualities since they both target an age group and when not read by that certain age group they are thought to be dreadful. First Flight is a more powerful story when read by teenagers because they can relate to the way Gregory feels. In Fog teenagers cannot relate to the main character because she is an old muliebrity waiting on deaths door which teenagers have nothing in common with most of the time. In First Flight the author realistically shows how teenagers will act with one another. For instance, when he was at the rink they would not let him in but they did not shoot him because he asked. Unlike in Fog the teenagers shoot the convenient store owner for 15-30$.
In Fog the author gives teenagers a bad reputation by making it look like all of them go approximately shooting convenient store owners and walking home with line of reasoning on their hands and not caring the slightest bit. In Fog the old lady is desperately asking for attention. Even when person is dying beside her she thinks only of herself:

In First Flight the boy is asking for attention. Because he has a mental handicap he is forced to try and socialize and be friendly, making his character more likable.
