The early advertisement that I fetch chosen to analyse and discuss is a full rogue in the 1955 Summer Entertainment Programme publication from Pontins, Middleton smooth near Morecambe. The chosen advertisement is market Babycham.
Following a period of frustration and a lack of suitable push throughlets in the brewer dominated license trade, Francis Showering the then brewer from Shepton malleus in Someret turned to manufacturing a pear based shine champagne Perry After a period of extensive marketing and customer service research this new product was launched in 1953. Showering wanted to introduce a quality product that would be well packaged with a long shelf life. thence after a period of extensive local testing, Babycham was launched nationwide and soon became a cult drink for women in pubs and clubs.
Babycham was the initiatory alcoholic drink to be advertised on tv set and could be described as the first alcoholic blade with the instantly recognisable bambi deer logo/symbol, its brand champagne glasses and cocktail cherry accessory, plus of course its baby bottle packaging. It was without doubt the drinks industrys marketing success of the century.
Bearing in mind that this printed publication would be available before the start of the summer season and would have probably been posted out to tens of thousands of would be holiday makers, it sends out the message that this holiday destination is up to date with the current trends in drinks and definitely a fashionable place to visit.
