World War One World War 1 is notion by many to be the second deadliest conflict in history that claimed up to 9 million lives. The reasons behind the gun trigger of the state of war were the imperialistic mind set of the leaders of the ace powers notably the Germans. The assassination of the heir to the throne of the Austro-Hungarian conglomerate, Archduke Franz Ferdinand, was the spark which ignited the war. The war formally started on 28th July with the attack of the Austro-Hungarian conglomerate on Serbia (Wikipedia) .The Serbs had a defense treaty with Russia who subsequently had a similar treaty with France. Thus the Russians and the French got involved in the war from the outset. The Americans, the Japanese and the British joined the war subsequently on when their interests got involved. These nations formed the Allied Forces. On the other upset the Austro-Hungarian Empire had its allies in the form of Germany and the Ottoman Empire called the Central Powers (first World War). It was due to this complicated set of alliances that the war became global and so much destructive.
